Billy Smith

Mr. Billy L. Smith, affectionately known as Ricky, was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on August 13, 1951, to the happy parents Fred Smith, Sr. and Emily Tyler Smith. Billy was the fourth of seven children.

Billy was educated in the public school of Caddo Parish. He was an honor student, football player, and sang in the choir. He graduated from the Linear Jr. Sr. High School, in the neighborhood called Cooper Road, in 1969. Billy entered Southern University and A&M College and majored in electrical engineering. He worked in food service at Parker Hall and pledged Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

Billy was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a charter member of the Jaguar Bass Busters Fishing Club, Quad State Bass Tournaments, and B&D Hunting Club.

Billy was employed at the Exxon Refinery in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He served at Greater New Galilee Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he was ordained as a deacon and served in numerous other capacities.
